CINDY SCHLICHT
Cindy was born in New Hartford NY and grew up in the Twin Cities, demonstrating a feel for rhythm even before she could walk. Her studies include jazz drumming at the Indianhead Arts Center in Shell Lake WI, percussion at UW-Eau Claire, jazz combo playing at MacPhail Center for the Arts, and private study with notables Elliot Fine and Joe Pulice.
Cindy's performance career began as percussionist in church music groups from age 12, and some gigging during her senior year in high school. Cindy credits her association with trombonist Jim Tenbensel for many playing opportunities that followed, including a stint with the Mouldy Figs where she successfully tackled the dixieland washboard while learning the finer points of traditional dixieland drumming. Touring experience includes Troupe America's musical play version of "A Christmas Carol" through the southeastern U.S.
